Well I seem to remember my little blogets that I promised some pics. Or maybe I said I would in my video blogs, can't remember, but as I have finally pit my pics onto my laptop, and I'm bored of job hunting, I thought I'd put some on here.
Ok, so here are some of the centipede who ran for TCT in Paris.
Here is a couple of pics of the plant I was talking about in my video blog, it's soo pretty!!! Well I can't find it, maybe I took the pics on my phone...a ha, I did, ok, will upload those now.
Right, for some reason I can't upload the pics and I don't know why. Fucking annoying!! Never mind.
So that's it really. Should probably carry on looking for some temp part time work - anyone know of anything??? The more mindless the better! I am SUPERB at data entry.
Lots of love, laughter and smiles as ever,

I was diagnosed with Old Man's Cancer (Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia) on the 19th January 2007 when I was 22. This is an open honest blog about what it's like living with a user-friendly cancer, taking pill chemotherapy daily, possibly for life, and everything that goes alongside it.

End of year 0, 3 more to go
Well my little bloglets,
I know it has been a while since I posted and I know that I have loads to mention, but its 10pm and nearly this crazy girls bedtime. Also I have a sore throat threatening and REALLY don't want to be ill, so hopefully an early night will knock it on the head. I have also been main lining ginger, lemon and honey tea in the hope it will do magic things. I also accidentally swallowed a rather large piece of ginger this morning and if anyone is ever feeling cold, swallow ginger, it will warm you up like you wouldn't believe it!!
So what else, exams are over YAAAY!!! They were also much better than I thought they would be, so hopefully I have passed...I could answer every questions, maybe not well, but I could put something down for each of them, so that must mean something. Also as I have passed all the other parts of the courses I only need to get 30% to pass. Surely I have done that.....results by mid June so will let you all know.
On the results note, I had my check up last week. Platelets still up, I think they were 112 or 114 so that's good. The Leukaemic rate was also the same ish. It had gone up slightly to 0.022% but I was assured that in the grand scheme of things, it's the same as 0.017% so was ok with that. I have also lost, wait for it......a whole kilo, yes, 2.2 pounds so all the running I have been doing, and I actually have been doing it rather than saying I'm going to do it, is beginning to pay off. A couple of days ago I re-read the last few blog postings and noticed that in everyone I was pissed off about my weight and in every one I said that I was gong to start running that week. Well this time I can tell you that I have. Woop! Hopefully next time a few more kilos will have gone by the next check up in 5 weeks as I'm going away really quite soon and will be in a bikini in at least one destination. Actually, having realised that, it's celery only from tomorrow!!!
Job hunting begins tomorrow, yuk. It was meant to start today, but not long after I woke up I got a text from a friend of mine, Bags who is in the army to say he was in London so we have a really fun day together. We also both share a very dark sense of humour. Mine from cancer, his from being in the army and having done a tour in Afghanistan, so spend a lot of our time together saying very, very wrong, but very, very funny things. We also spent about 2 hours playing in Hamleys which was amazing. There is also a life size toy camel called Lou Lou for sale. It's only £1800, so if anyone wants to buy it for me, don't hold back!
Another video is up on jimmyteens:
http://jimmyteens.tv/2011/05/katie-ruane-video-blog-9/
I of course think it's AMAZING so go and have a look.
On the jimmyteens note, apparently my last camera was corrupted...and NO. Not by my face, thanks everyone for thinking that, so I got a new one. It's very pretty and white and matches my iPhone and iPod so I'm so happy about that!!! I've just realised I haven't sworn yet, fuck! Ok, that feels better now. I will be doing another film tomorrow as I haven't done one in fucking ages.
Through jimmyteens and this blog a girl has contacted me who was also diagnosed with CML when she was 22 and has told me that she finds what I do very helpful which is nice to know. And yes, I did have a bit of an 'fine, I'm not special any more' strop and I KNOW that that's me being utterly ridiculous. But when you get used to being the only person you know with what you were diagnosed with, it can be hard to find out there are others. Unfortunately for her, she hasn't been as responsive to the treatment as me, so might have to have a bone marrow transplant. And I'm a bit jealous of that. I know that you will all think I'm mental for saying that, I do have my reasons. If I'd had one, I would be completely 100% cancer free now and not on the arsing drugs everyday and not going to the hospital every 6-8 weeks etc etc So yes, part of me, and maybe a big part of me wishes I'd had one, and the other knows how lucky I am. It's a fucking difficult place to be. I hope that I can be supportive to her through this and pass on what I have learnt through my cancer journey. That's what I hope with everyone actually, regardless of their health and if they've been diagnosed or not.
So fairly self indulgent rant over.
I haven't mentioned my beloved TCT yet. Am bucketing for them on Thursday after an Elbow gig which I think is happening at St. Pauls Cathedral. I don't have tickets to see it, but hopefully some lovely person who works there will read this and smuggle me one...
I've also joined twitter, so if you want non stop 'me' updates, I'm at @kgruane
I shall also tweet about bucketing and see if I can blag a ticket that way. I will let you know!
So what else? Masses I'm sure. Have basically got my trip sorted now. Just need to plan my time in New Zealand and get my Indonesian Visa and I'm done. Just need to get to the places and start doing whatever I'll be doing.
My amazing bootie slippers really smell - I can smell them even though I'm sitting at my desk with my feet on the floor, but they aren't machine washable and am worried that hand washing them will ruin them. I suppose if it does, it shouldn't matter as I should throw them away anyways, but they are SO comfy and I LOVE them. Not entirely sure why I am sharing this with you. It probably means I have started rambling and should go to bed.
I will be back before anything of interest happens if I remember anything else I should have mentioned.
Lots of love, laughter and smiles, and let me know if you need a temp from now until the beginning of July,

PLATELETS ARE NORMAL!!! (well normal ish)
Well my little bloglets,
It's quite late (10.45pm) and I have a day of revision ahead of me tomorrow, so should be asleep, but am not tired, so thought I'd do a post from bed.
So I have some exciting news, I had a check up last week and after being on the new dosage for a couple of weeks my platelet count was 112, so I'm pretty fucking happy about that. They are still lower than normal, but considering the last time I was on this dosage they went down to 22, I think they are doing pretty bloody well!
Unbelievably my university year has ended, and all that's left are 3 exams on the 5th, 9th and 13th May so revision has started, well it starts tomorrow until Friday as I'm going to Paris on Saturday until the following Wednesday as I was meant to be watching Crouch (little blonde one I interview in my video blogs who has a hot water bottle on her shoulder) run the Paris Marathon for TCT, but she has destroyed her knee so can't run it. This means we are now just going for a jolly, which I'm just as happy with, although it means no revision for 5 days.....
I think I put on here that my Leukaemic rate is down to 0.017%, so hopefully it will be even lower now.
My latest video blog is up:
http://www.jimmyteens.tv/2011/04/katie-ruane-video-blog-8/
And ummm, don't know what else really. I've just had 5 days a home as was really quite unwell with what I termed 'end of termitus' which has now gone. I also started to worry a bit as my legs have been achey/hurting as they did when my body started to react to the skanky manky chemo that I was on first, but I think it was just the virus as they are feeling much better now, thank fuck!
I spoke at a thing for TCT last week and I think something like £7,000 (or was it £9,000 can't remember!) was given and of course I would like to think it was all down to me! Also makes up for my volunteering at the Royal Albert Hall as I think I only got about £6! Obviously it will be that £6 which makes all the difference!!!
I'm sure there were loads of things that I was going to mention, but can't remember now. Have been a bit down recently, but hopefully am over that now. It sometimes creeps up on me, and I think that it can be the side affect of a long term illness/treatment, but it was ok as I was at home, so could have a cry about everything and how shit it can be and how fed up I get and my little mummy was there for me. In the beginning all those millions of years ago, I always put on a happy face as I felt that I couldn't feel miserable/upset/frustrated as I felt that I had to make sure everyone else was ok, and I had to be upbeat all the time because if I wasn't, then obviously everyone else would fall apart!! It has taken me both time, and talking mainly to my mother about it that has taught me that I am allowed to have down days when I can be fucked off with about what I've been through and what I'm going through and that it sometimes feel like it will never end and I don't have to fight it. I think this has been a valuable lesson as it doesn't do anyone any good keeping emotions bottled up. I also don't think I've ever really talked about it on here either...
Anyways, can't think of anything else to mention at the moment. If any of you do watch my video blogs, check out the one called 'Not Actually a Pain in the Neck'. It's by a buddy of mine, Tom, and it's a fucking brilliant presentation. I think it's possibly better than anything I do, I know, I know, I can hear you all saying 'noooooooooooooooo, not possible' but I think it may be. Having said that, I've never been asked to do a formal presentation (hint hint if anyone from TCT is reading this) so I don't know how mine would be. Anyways, have a look if you fancy it.
Right, been doing this for half an hour now, so really should go to bed otherwise my day of revising Anatomy and Physiology tomorrow is not going to be as effective as I would like.
Right, lots of love, laughter and smiles, and fucking well start to follow me you buggers!!

Bollocks, forgot to say something
Ok, so yesterday I was told that I'm both moody and moany. Do you agree?? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts and views......
I shall post my facebook comments so you can see what has already been said...
I shall post my facebook comments so you can see what has already been said...
apparently I'm moody and moany. Do you agree?
All the blossom is out!
Well my little bloglets,
Firstly a massive THANK YOU to my two followers, I feel very loved, and even more so because I don't know you!! This should shame all my friends into becoming followers.....
So at this moment in time I am meant to be writing a job spec for a Naturopath and then writing a reflective piece on writing the job spec and am just not in the mood to do it, so I'm listening/watching Radio 1 as Chris Moyles is doing something stupid like 37+ hours non stop for comic relief and it's really funny and far more interesting than what I'm meant to be doing. I also really quite fancy Greg James and it's his show at the moment, so have even more reason to watch it.....I suppose I should also mention how great Comic Relief is... but as you all know I'm all about Teenage Cancer Trust and would feel bad if I gave another charity a plug. Also EVERYONE is supporting Cominc Relief and NO ONE has heard of TCT so Comic Relief doesn't need any more help from me! (Sorry Maz, I know you work for them, and think it's the most amazing charity etc etc blah blah blah BUT IT'S NOT!)
Ok, move on swiftly before everyone has a go at me for being cold hearted and not thinking about the kiddies here and in Africa...
Soooo, my new dosage arrives today, in fact, according to the text I just received it will be arriving in 3 minutes, so that's exciting.
Another exciting thing, my Grandfather who has bowl cancer last year was given the all clear this week WOO HOO!!! P-A-R-T-Y!!! .....I suppose I should be a good granddaughter and give him a ring.....
Milo left on Sunday, he said he was going to ring me to let me know he arrived back in Singapore safely. I haven't heard from him yet, but am guessing he's fine......
Ummm, I'm sure there was something else....Bought new running shoes last Fri (£91 eek!) and have been out in the a couple of times, and they are sooper dooper. I AM going to run 3 or 4 times a week now, and fairly soon I will begin marathon training. I know, I know, it's over a year away but it took me 6 months to train for the Great North Run, as I have to do it slowly slowly, so am basically starting the London Marathon training now. But worry not, I won't bang on about it too much....yet!
On a marathon note, my little Crouch is running the Paris Marathon in a few weeks, and when she creates her virgin money page, I will be putting it on here as she is running for meeeeeeee.
Now then, next week is exciting as it's the gigs at the Royal Albert Hall for TCT and I will be going on the Wed to volunteer and try and get money out of people by waving a collecting bucket around (I'm also doing it because the charity apparently didn't have a spare ticket for Biffy Clyro so an volunteering so I can go to the gig. I know, I do EVERYTHING for them, and they could't find one little ticket for little me!!! OUTRAGEOUS!) Anyways, probably shouldn't slag them off on the internet as I'll never get invited to anything else ever again!
I've gone into complete babble mode, and I've just realised I haven't sworn yet. Fuck! Bugger! Arse!
An update on the on line dating thing, am so fucking over it! I was really excited in the first week when basically stalking people was fun. My first month is up this weekend and will be cancelling my subscription. Will have been on 3 dates and haven't clicked with any of them, so will just stop being lazy and go out more!
So, have lost my train of thought (yes, there was one) as I've just had my drugs delivered and have taken the new dosage, so fingers crossed my platelets are stronger this time
Right, should probably bugger off and do some work....oh, and all the blossom is out on the fruit trees in London and is soooooooooooooo pretty!! When we were little and in town during spring, my mother always used to drive down a specific road as it was lined with cherry trees. We did this not that long ago but when we got there, we discovered that all the trees has been cut down. You can not imagine the upset for my poor little mummy!
Right, bugger off Katherine and do some fucking work!!
And panic not, I will be back in a couple of weeks after my next check up.
Lots of love, laughter and smiles,

EXCITING NEWS!!!
Well my little bloglets,
2 very exciting things have taken place in the last couple of days, well actually 3 things. The first:
I got 62.5% in my anatomy and physiology test, woop!!! Was really worried about it!
The second:
Milo is home for a week, and haven't seen him since September, so it's fucking lush seeing him. And before you ask, no, there have been no tears (.....yet!)
The third:
Well I suppose this is the most exciting thing of all. I had my check up on Thursday (no joy on the scales, have only lost a kilo, but Milo is buying my running shoes for my Christmas present so with lighter days, this week the running in earnest starts again. Also will have to start marathon training in the not too distant future, and you know what? I'm actually really excited about it. Although, might not run for TCT as this weekend is their conference FYSOT and I wasn't allowed to go....sob, moan, wail....so maybe I'll run for the Cat's Protection League or something.....!!! Ha ha, jokes, OF COURSE I'll be running for them as I simply LOVE their fluro yellow running bib. Anyways, have digressed massively. Must get back to the point.). I asked my consultant what my PCR (Leukamic Rate) was last time and she said her usual, it's fine, you're fine, keep taking the drugs. It's had risen slightly to 0.08% and I once again said how determined to get it down to 0.00% so she said, ok, let's increase the dosage you are on to do it. WHOOP WHOOP!!!!
When I first started the drug I'm on at the moment, at 100mg a day, my platelets crashed, so the dosage was reduced to 70mg, and hopefully next week the new prescription will arrive and I will start on 100mg. I have a check up in 4 weeks to keep an eye on me and to make sure my platelets stay up, but worry not folks, I have had a stern chat with them, and they ARE going to behave!
Well I think that's about it....
